Mike Morgan
Director of Youth Ministries
A San Diego native, Mike is accustomed to the beautiful weather and beach lifestyle. What drew Mike to Malibu weren't the waves, the beach, the weather, or the industry. He came here for the people. Over the past two years, Mike has shared his passion for God by ministering to the young people in this community.
Following his childhood dream to become a professional soccer player, Mike was a starting sweeper for the Biola University Men's program. After 6 ankle surgeries, Mike heard the call God had on his life to serve as a Youth Pastor at a local church in La Mirada. Later, graduating with a degree in business marketing and two busted ankles, Mike moved back to San Diego to try and put his degree to some use. God quickly guided him back to the church and he's been ministering to young people ever since.
With the belief that God desires to reconcile the entire person back to Himself, Mike's desire is to minister to the spiritual, emotional, physical, and relational aspects of an individual. Compassion, empathy, grace and solidarity are attributes Mike hopes define his ministry.
Compassion is hard because it requires the inner disposition to go with others to the place where they are weak, vulnerable, lonely, and broken. But this is not our spontaneous response to suffering. What we desire most is to do away with suffering by fleeing from it or finding a quick cure for it. As busy, active, relevant ministers, we want to earn our bread by making a real contribution. This means first and foremost doing something to show that our presence makes a difference. And so we ignore our greatest gift, which is our ability to enter into solidarity with those who suffer." - Henri Nouwen
Mike's goal is to avoid becoming so consumed with "ministry" that he fails to truly minister to the aspects of an individual longing to be set free. He is diligently working to implement this mission with the MPC young people and their families.
Mike lives in Santa Monica with his beautiful wife Rebecca and his dog Selah. He loves surfing with his friends, running with his dog, reading a good book, eating carne asada burritos, and having date nights with his wife. He is the brother of three siblings, the son of wonderful parents, an uncle, and one lucky husband.
