Baja Build 2009!

November 14-15, 2009
Tecate, Baja, Mexico
SmallMtn.jpgMark your calendars now for the biggest Baja Build yet! This year, as we move in to our new Sanctuary, we will commemorate our new home by building a new church in Baja! It's all part of our commitment and call to bless those around us, and to continue to build up our extended family in Mexico.

An anonymous donor has offered to pay for half of a new church, if we can raise the other half by our participants! So we're asking you, not only come ready with your hammer, but Give a Ben! If every individual or family donates $100 (a Ben Franklin!), we can raise the necessary $6000 to pay for half of the church!

In return for your donation, you will receive a tile in which you can paint and decorate. We will then take all tiles and build them into the new church foundation on the build. This is a legacy that will possibly last a lifetime!

So register now and invest into the kingdom of God!

FAQ

Is Baja safe?
Amidst reports of violence between drug cartels and the Mexican Army, Baja Christian remains resolved to continue their outreach to Baja's impoverished people. While some of this violence is certainly occurring in Mexico, no violence has occurred in the build areas or Tecate. Additionally and contrary to most media reports, only cartel members and the army are involved in such incidents, American tourists are rarely targeted.

Statistically speaking, you take a greater risk driving LA’s freeways than serving in Baja. We travel in a large caravan with over 45 people, and are escorted by Baja Christian personnel as well as Mexican pastors. We take many safety precautions and never have experienced a threat to danger. In 17 years and hosting 2-3 churches every weekend, Baja Christian has never experienced a problem.

What documents do I need?
You will need to complete all waivers found under the Registration tab. Please complete and print these forms out, then fax or mail to the church office. Passports are now required to reenter the USA.

We stay in a modern, safe and clean hotel in Tecate.

How much does the trip cost?
There is no charge to attend, although you will spend around $70 for the hotel room (one room per family). Whether you drive or carpool, you’ll also want to help pay for gas. You’ll also need money for dinner and any incidentals. (If you drive your own car and plan on driving into Mexico, you’ll need to purchase auto insurance as well. We recommend Bajabound.com.)

What will we be doing?
Most of us will help build a small house for a Mexican family. When we arrive, the foundation is ready and all the lumber has been pre-cut. Anyone not building may help with a mini-Vacation Bible School for the neighborhood children and house visits to share testimonies and Christ’s Word.

Who do we work with?
We partner with Baja Christian Ministries. We have been partnering with them for over 17 years!

Can I invite others?
YES! We hope you will consider inviting others, especially non-believers to witness the work in which God mandates in his word.

Should I bring my children?
YES! Children 8+ years old love being in Baja and usually make friends with Mexican children. We highly encourage whole families to come, in order to expose our children to extreme poverty and sacrificial giving.
